Mozilla Firefox has released Firefox 151 with fresh updates aimed at improving online privacy, smarter browsing, and user control across desktop and mobile devices.
The latest version introduces three major features: VPN location selection through Firefox’s free built-in VPN, expanded AI-powered tools for Android and iPhone users, and a new one-click reset option for Private Browsing sessions.
Firefox Users Can Now Choose VPN Locations
Firefox users can now manually select VPN browsing locations in countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Canada using the browser’s free integrated VPN service.
Previously, the browser automatically connected users to the nearest available server. With the new update, users now have more flexibility and control over how they browse the internet.
Mozilla says more countries and server locations will be added in future updates. However, users should note that internet restrictions and local laws of the selected region will still apply while browsing.
According to Mozilla, more than one million people have already signed up for Firefox’s free VPN service since its launch roughly two months ago.
AI Features Expand to Mobile Devices
After introducing AI tools on desktop earlier this year, Mozilla has now expanded these features to Firefox on Android and iOS devices.
The available AI tools differ depending on region and device type, but users can access features such as:
- Voice search
- Instant translations
- AI summaries of webpages
One standout feature is “Shake to Summarize,” which lets users quickly get a summary of a webpage simply by shaking their phone.
On Android, the feature currently works in English, while iPhone users can access it in multiple languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Japanese.
Mozilla says users can adjust or disable AI settings anytime through the Firefox settings menu.
Private Browsing Gets Faster Reset Option
Firefox 151 also introduces a new flame-shaped button inside Private Browsing mode.
With a single click, users can instantly clear cookies, browsing history, login data, and other private session information without closing the browser window.
The feature is designed to make private browsing quicker and more convenient, especially for users who frequently switch between sessions.
More Changes Coming Soon
Mozilla is also testing a redesigned settings page in Firefox Nightly. The upcoming redesign promises easier navigation, cleaner organization, and a search tool that helps users quickly locate browser settings.
Firefox 151 is now available through the regular browser update channel or via direct download from Mozilla.
