M4 MacBook Air and ‘Refreshed’ iPad Air Not Expected Until 2025

Apple, however, is still on track to launch M4 MacBook Pros, iMacs, and Mac minis this month. Plus, iOS 18.1 with Apple Intelligence is expected on Oct. 28.

Apple is set to launch M4 Macs later this month, but don’t expect an updated MacBook Air and iPad Air models until next year, Bloomberg reports.

With the iPhone 16 and Apple Watch Series 10 launches behind it, Apple is now turning its attention toward the Mac and iPad. Later this month, we can expect a low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro, as well as 14- and 16-inch high-end MacBook Pros, all running the M4 chip, says Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Also on tap: an M4 iMac and the revamped M4 Mac mini.

Gurman also expects a “refreshed iPad mini” this month, but new iPad Airs aren’t coming until the first half of 2025, alongside an M4 13-and 15-inch MacBook Air and next-gen iPhone SE. New AirTags and Magic Keyboards for the iPad Air are also planned for next year, he says.

Gurman doesn’t have a date for the hardware announcement, though he expects them to hit stores by Nov. 1.

Meanwhile, compatible devices will get iOS 18.1 and the first batch of Apple Intelligence features on Oct. 28. They will allow users “to understand and create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from personal context to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks.”

Only the iPhone 15 Pro and up and iPads or Macs with at least an M1 chip will be able to use Apple Intelligence, a limitation Apple has so far chalked up to high-performance demands.
