HP 255 G7 Design & Build
The body of this 15-inch office laptop is made of plastic which is fairly sturdy. We were not expecting a metallic chassis either at this price. Its exterior looks solid as HP has used quality material that can handle workplace mishaps. Its body weighs about 3.96lbs (1.8kg) which is a bit bulky but do not feel uncomfortable.
Our model comes in dark ash colour with a few black parts. This is a minimalistic design that blends well with most work environments and office ecosystems.
HP 255 G7 Hardware Selection
HP 255 G7 is one of the most balanced AMD laptops on the market. It features AMD Ryzen 3 processor which can deliver a turbo boost of 3.7GHz. This is a high-speed quad-core CPU that can run various software at a time. You can multitask without experiencing lags or any change in its performance.
To ensure smooth performance, HP has loaded an 8GB RAM with SSD storage. The 1TB solid-state drive provides enough storage and gives quick access to data as well. So, you will get fast bootup that will make multitasking on multiple projects effortless.
HP 255 G7 Display Review
There is a 15-inch display on the HP 255 G7 that features an FHD screen. The resolution is 1080p which is good but the presence of SVA panel hurts visuals. Absence of IPS technology means you will be constantly adjusting the display whenever you will change body position. The average screen brightness of this display is 220 nits which is average but still good for office use.
Port Selection & Connectivity
There are aplenty of ports on the HP 255 G7 which we find satisfactory for a common user. Most of these ports are on the left edge which makes it easy to attach an external mouse. On the left, there are two USB-A 3.1 Gen. 1 ports, an Ethernet port, and an HDMI output connection. Also, there is a 3.5mm combo audio jack and a power connector.
On the right edge, there is an old school USB-A 2.0 port and an SD card reader slot. Unfortunately, HP did not offer a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port which is obvious considering the price tag on this model. Furthermore, the 255 G7 is equipped with the Realtek RTL8821ce Wi-Fi chip and Bluetooth 4.2.
Keyboard & Trackpad Review
Thanks to its large display, HP 255 G7 has got a full-size keyboard. The keys on it are amply large while there is a number pad on the right side. We found it good for typing as the keys offer adequate key travel with sharp accuracy. This is a great keyboard for writers and data entry workers, but the keys make a loud sound.
The trackpad covers the appropriate area and has a plastic surface. We found it a bit resistant, but responsive and quick to commands. Overall, this is a nice keyboard for office and professional use that you can use for work. However, we do not recommend it for writing a report in the library or conference room.
HP 255 G7 Performance Review
During our HP 255 G7 review, we found it to be one of the best AMD laptops for office use. The specs on this are satisfactory and we were able to get the most out of its hardware. We used it for word processing, data analysis, managing spreadsheets, and browsing. The laptop lived up to our expectations and offered a higher speed than our hopes.
If you are a professional looking for a durable laptop with reliable performance, go for HP 255 G7. This is a great pick from HP laptops with AMD components and the Windows 10 OS. AMD Ryzen-3 CPU, 8GB memory, SSD storage, a comfortable keyboard, and enduring battery life are some of the advantages that you will cherish
