iOS 18 to Be The Biggest Update For iPhone, Apple Plans to Overhaul some Apps With AI Integration

iOS 18 is rumored to be the biggest update the iPhone has ever received, potentially due to advanced AI integration. It appears that AI will cover a slew of apps on the platform with Apple looking to ‘overhaul’ the Notes, Mail, Photos, and Fitness apps. The company will be hosting its WWDC 2024 event for developers and the general public in the first half of June. The event will bring a handful of improvements to the iPhone, as the company has been working on its custom generative AI models for iOS 18 and additional software updates.

AI to be a major part of iOS 18, as Apple works to ‘overhaul’ Notes, Mail, Photos, and more

We have previously reported that the Notes app will bring notable improvements to the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The app is being upgraded with voice memo and math support, which will be a game-changer for students and professionals. The company will likely introduce the changes on all platforms, as the revamped note-taking experience makes a lot of sense on a bigger screen. It appears that iOS 18 will also boast a handful of additional AI upgrades for the iPhone, which could transform the user experience entirely.

Gurman also stated in his Power On newsletter that Apple is also planning to bring significant variations in the Mail, Photos, and the Fitness app. This is the first time we are hearing details on the aforementioned apps and if the news has any heft to it, we might be looking at a complete overhaul on a system level.

The analyst did not highlight the changes that we should be looking be looking forward to but we suspect we will be seeing a plethora of AI integrations. With Apple working on AI algorithms and large language models, iOS 18 will redefine how users use their devices. We have also heard that the Cupertino giant is also looking to reimagine the Calculator app, which will make room for complex equations.

Gurman also corroborated earlier rumors of a smarter Siri, which has been under development for a while. The company is also working to bring visual changes to the mix with more customization options for the Home Screen. Users will be able to place icons on the Home Screen with empty spaces in between. RCS support is also coming to the iPhone with iOS 18 which will allow the device to communicate better with Android handsets. Do you think iOS 18 will redefine how you use your iPhone?
