Considering how AI is slowly taking over everything, it is safe to say that we are going to be seeing the implementation on a number of platforms. Not only that, on-device generative AI is becoming a thing next year, and now, WhatsApp is also preparing an AI chatbot, but it is currently under beta, so you will not be able to access it.
AI chatbot is coming to WhatsApp and possibly other Meta-platforms
Now, it is worth noting that Meta announced earlier this year that it is working on bringing AI chatbot to its platforms, and the company even spent a lot of time with the Llama 2 large language model. In addition to that, it is working with Microsoft Bing to ensure that users who do get the experience with its AI chatbot on WhatsApp or some other platform actually have a good experience.
The AI chatbot can be found in the latest beta version of WhatsApp. The version is v2.23.24.26, and you can see in the screenshot above that there is a new button right above the chat icon, which I assume is for taking care of the AI chatbot. The details are scarce at the moment, but we assume that it will help the users with whatever queries they have and make their overall experience within the app a lot more streamlined.
At the time of writing, the feature is only available to select users, but considering how WhatsApp is working on a number of features, it can take some time before it starts rolling out to everyone. You can even expect an official announcement from Meta about the feature in the near future,, and we will be sure to let you know.
Considering how this feature is in the works for the instant messaging app, I would not be surprised if Meta integrates the same feature into the other apps, considering how the platforms do share several features.
